After Merlefest
April 26th, 2009 - by Wylie

Merlefest 2009 has come and gone. Fun times were had by the Blevins sisters and their pale sidekick, Wylie. It all started on Thursday with a drive out to Wilkesboro, NC. We had reserved a space in the VFW filed for Thursday and Friday night. It was a good campground, tons of space, tons of firewood, and a nice baseball diamond to drive on.

Friday began our Merlefest adventure. We spent the day avoiding the blaring sun, and listening to some pretty darn good bluegrass. There was plenty of water drinking and lounging in the shade. We also enjoyed some snow cone and funnel cake action. It was my first music festival, and the Blevins sisters first funnel cake and not the Blevins sisters first funnel cake. New things for all me! Friday ended with a performance by Donna the Buffalo, followed by some contra dancing, and then some more Donna the Buffalo at the Donna the Buffalo Dance Party.

Saturday we left for Brevard, NC to visit one of Maria’s old guiding buddies, Tolly. During the drive there was a stop at birdhouse man (unfortunately I did not take photos), some windy roads, some Sonic and some Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me going on, a stop in Asheville at Green Life, some loitering at Ingles in Brevard, and almost some car sickness. Our drive ended in Glenville, NC where we spent the evening with Tolly and Lori. Pizza, cocktails, jam sessions, and campfires by the lake were on the agenda. It was a short visit, but we checked all that off our list before getting back on the road to Asheville on Sunday.

It was a fantastic weekend. It was a good first music festival for me, no sunburn, and no dehydration happened. And it was great meeting Maria, Tolly, and Lori.

Now, enjoy some photos from the weekend.

Merlefest
April 23rd, 2009 - by Wylie

This isn’t really about the move, but it is something Teresa and I are doing. She is driving up here to Asheville as I type to pick me up after work so we can head to Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC. On the way she made a pit stop in Atlanta in order to pick up her sister, Maria. The three of us will be camping out tonight and tomorrow night, and listening to some bluegrass most of the day Friday, and I believe some on Saturday. I am not too sure of the plans for Saturday, but I know that I will not be sleeping in my own bed until Sunday night.

I imagine I will be taking some photos and posting them here, but that will need to wait until after the fact. So, be on the lookout for another Merlfest post on Sunday night, or on Monday.

Prepping For Texas

In preparation for the move to Texas, I have been watching, and re-watching, King of the Hill. I am sure things will be exactly like the show when we get there.

Adventure “To Do” List….
April 19th, 2009 - by Teresa

So, I am trying to find things that we can do for adventures in TX instead of actually working. This will be good later though, when we can’t think of anything to do on Saturday…

Ok…that’s enough of that for now. If you know of anything fun within a couple hours of College Station/Bryan, holler at us so we don’t miss out!!!

Learning New Tricks….
April 16th, 2009 - by Teresa

So…it seems that Wylie has been awfully busy doing all kinds of things off his list, and then some extra things on top of that! I need to just start easy by learning how to put words onto the screen on my own…so HOORAY! for this inaugural post from Teresa!

I have mostly been busy doing schoolish type things, but today was an important day in the business of moving to CS…we will have a roof and we will have a way to get all our crap there (well, I have a lot of crap, Wylie has mostly treasures, I think…I’m a bit of a packrat…and a bit nostalgic….oh well)…But it is exciting! Things are happening!
