Pump Gap Trail
May 30th, 2009 - by Wylie

Today we went to hike on the Pump Gap trail in Hot Springs, NC. It was a good hike, about 7 miles from what we figure. Some of it pretty steep, even too steep for us to go on. We went on the Lovers Leap trail (neither one of us leaped), and ended up on the Pump Gap Trail. The trail followed the French Broad River for most of the time, and that was nice. It was pretty high water today, and thus very brown and muddy. One could hear water flowing from most places on the trail, or maybe I just imagined that…

We saw some lizards, and I saw a bunny and a wild turkey. Teresa was a little slow. No bears were seen which was good since we couldn’t remember what kind of bear we should try to intimidate and what kind of bear we should act like a rock for.

Remote Access
May 26th, 2009 - by Wylie

Yes! I now have remote access into my two computers at work! You might be wondering why this is a good thing. Now I can never get away from my job! It does mean that, but it also means that I can do my current job from Texas. I think that that is fantastic. I do not need to look for a job when we get to College Station. I might look for a part time gig so I can meet some people and not be a hermit, but I will have a steady paycheck, hooray!

Boxes
May 23rd, 2009 - by Wylie

Today I am going through boxes. I have boxes in my closet full of CD’s, DVD’s, odds and ends, and more whatnot that I have been bringing with me for the past several years. So far I have found a bunch of CD’s I forgot I had, so I am ripping them into iTunes. Also found some clothes I thought I had given away. And I found some things that I do not need anymore. The pile for Goodwill or a yard sale is getting pretty big. Well, not too big, but pretty soon it will take up a nice little spot in my room.

I still have a few paintings I need to deal with. Some I need to send to Brett in Boston. One I need to give to a friend here in Asheville, and a couple others that need home. Hopefully I can find some for them. If you want to see what I have available, head over here.

I still need to go through my clothes and thin that down a bit. I have a plethora of t-shirts from my days as a screenprinter.

So much more to do before I feel like I will be ready to start packing. I could pack now, but I think I have too many things that I do not need to move one more time. I should get back to it, my bedroom is filthy with boxes little bits of packing paper.

Just a reminder, if you like coming here and reading about what we are up to, why not just give a click on the Google ads over in the right hand column. You don’t have to buy anything, and nothing will be installed on your machine, just the action of the click will add to Teresa’s and my Sonic fund.

Less than 2 months!!!
May 21st, 2009 - by Teresa

Holy smokes! Things have been busy finishing up this last semester at Auburn and starting to get ready to say goodbye to this place. The move is now less than 2 months away, and I am sans desk, dresser, and desk chair so far–thanks to Craig and his fancy li’l list! The realtor e-mailed us last week to let us know that they are renovating the apartment we will live in, and she wanted to know if we preferred upstairs or down, and if we wanted one with some hardwood floors…I thought that was thoughtful. Especially since there is still a chance that they took our deposit and ran away…but I don’t think that is the truth.

So, these are some of the things I have been busy doing:
1. The Counseling Psych program had a farewell party for me and my friend Tammy, since we are the two going off into the big internship world this summer. It was really fun, and the first time that I can remember that the whole program was all together. That was nice. Weird to think that I really might not see some of those folks again before we go…

2. Proposing my dissertation research. I am glad that is over.

3. Jaunting home to Phoenix to participate in the 25th Anniversary alumni concert for the Phoenix Children’s Chorus. I think my sister owes me–big time. But it was fun. Also involved in the day were a daytime and a night-time view of  the giant “Cactus Flower” art in downtown Phoenix, and a lady sunbathing–also in the middle of downtown Phoenix. I got to see my old friend Brian and swim in the pool and have a bean and egg and cheese burrito from Ramiro’s…TWICE! Not to mention, having a great time with my wonderful family.

Back in Auburn now. Making some plans for the last of the things I will do in the Southeast…lots of them with Wylie. Boating on the Nantahala is on the list, as is Dollywood, and a visit from my parents…sheesh! The next 6 weeks will be filled up!
