We will be in College Station, about 2.5 hours East of Austin. We think we will be going to Austin for many things; IKEA, Austin City Limits, SXSW, and the Apple stores just to name a few. Houston, also about 2.5 hours away, will be our gateway to the ocean, or at least one of them.
I think that traveling like that through a state counts. If it were just a quick passing through to get to the state on the other side, I may not call that visiting.
I haven’t spent any time in East Texas, but I love Austin. I also love the so-called “hill country” west of Austin. Actually, everything west of Austin is pretty great. Go to Terlingua. And Marfa. But skip El Paso.
houston… but i really want to visit austin… will you live near austin? should i already know this?

Does traveling through it count? When taking my fun ride with amtrak from AZ to NY, I saw the beautiful sites for 24 hours.

Yes, Austin. We think we will be headed there a bit. Is “hill country” not so hilly? I keep hearing bad things about El Paso. Poor El Paso.
