Crime!

Well, I figured that there was crime in College Station/Bryan, but now I know for sure. I’m glad that most of the crimes seem like “petty” ones. They may not be, but they seem like nothing to really worry about. If I saw more stabbings, or actual killings I may be more worried. I am also glad that not too many are in our new neighborhood.

I was once burgled. When I lived in Somerville, Massachusetts with a roommate who was given the nickname “Sprinkles”. He had a salt deficiency. All they took were cleaning supplies that Sprinkles had bought. Thankfully they didn’t have time to boost my boomin’ stereo and fly kicks.

My car stereo was stolen right out of my awesome 1996 Dodge Neon in the summer of 2002. I was about to head down to Tucson for a meeting with the lady who would be my boss the next year, and I was so sad because I had to drive 2 hours each way with no tunes…the worst part was that it happened in my own driveway!!! Boooo!!!

One night the home owner came back home early just as I was, Oh right- No never burgled myself.

I have never had anything stolen, it would break my heart if I had. Once I witnessed a nighttime burglary at the apartment below ours and had so much information, description of burglar and car plate number, to give the grand jury that the burglar was caught and sent to jail for two years, and someone I work with recently had her home broken into while she was at work, many personal things were taken and even though fingerprints were found and police know who the burglar is, no arrests have been made. It’s very frustrating for them. Wylie, it’s good that you’ve done a crime sweep of your new neighborhood but put it in perspective, be as safe as can be, perhaps install new locks, keep lights on, don’t worry and just enjoy yourselves in your new home.
