Three Days
July 27th, 2010 - by Wylie

We have three days until we hit the road for Vegas, and I wanted to freshen things up here on the ol’ blog. I found us a decent new theme to use, for free, so that’s nice. Hopefully we will get back to posting. We need to, though I doubt we still have any consistent readers left. If we do, I apologize for not knowing you were here. If you could, please leave a comment so we know you are here.

Anyways, enjoy the next three days, and hopefully a ton of posts direct from Sin City! Wooh!

Austin
June 7th, 2010 - by Wylie

This past weekend we went to Austin for about 36 hours. We stayed with a friend and explored all over the place. We ate at a great restaurant on Friday, had some odd shaved ice, and saw thousands of bats fly out from under a bridge. Saturday Teresa had a conference to go to, so me and my friend Robie hung out with our dogs. We went to the dog park in the morning, the farmers market around noon, and swimming in the afternoon. Olive is still not a fan of swimming, but she will learn to love it. I think she may need a doggie PFD. I think that will help her feel more confident when in the water, or at least I hope so. Saturday evening we went to see the Master Pancake Theater. It’s a live Mystery Science Theater 3000. It was pretty darn funny. After that we walked around downtown just a little and bumped into the Pride Parade. So we watched that for a short while before getting too hot and realizing that we should drive home before it got too late. It was a jam packed 36 hours, but we had a great time. I like Austin, just not the heat.

June
June 2nd, 2010 - by Wylie

Now it is June and we are in the home stretch. Our lease here ends on July 31 and we will not be renewing it. This means to me that we will need to start hoarding boxes, start thinking about moving trucks, and start thinking about the transition to a new place. I think that both of us are equally looking to get on with it and have some of these things planned and ready to go.

In the meantime we need to keep working, and sending out resumes. We also need to keep having fun. With all that has been happening and the stress that comes with it, we need fun now more than ever.

Working In A Coal Mine
May 20th, 2010 - by Wylie

Work, it’s a funny thing. We need to do it in order to make money. We need money in order to get through our daily lives. People seem to not care to work, or when they have a job a lot of people take it for granted and don’t do a good job. Some people, like Teresa and I, like to do a good job at work. Teresa might not like working an actual full-time job yet, but I do. I like getting out of the house, collaborating on things, and having a final product to be proud of. Sure, the hours aren’t always the best, and some co-workers might not be my favorites, but that’s life. If Teresa has a different idea on work she can post it here, or in the comments…

We are both still looking for jobs where we can do good work and be proud. Teresa is looking all over the country, and nothing, bupkis. I have also been looking all over and also got bupkis. Well, that’s not true. I did get a job with some folks in Florida who give me several hours of work to do every month. I can’t survive on that, so I found a job at a local movie theater for minimum wage. That’s just pathetic for the amount of work I give them. I feel like I have gone over all of this so I will move on.

We are both still looking for work.

Teresa may have a lead on a job north of Austin, TX. She has had one interview with them, and has another one tomorrow. I am not sure if she has actually applied for the job though… It kind of came out of nowhere, the first interview did.

I have started looking all over the country for work. It has come to the point where we will move to wherever it is that one of us finds a job. I might have a lead on a job in Greenville, SC. We will see. I have a friend asking around for me and one of the companies he mentioned is looking for a Junior Developer. I can do that, very well indeed. I will need to bone up on my skills a little in case something comes of it.

That’s pretty much the new news. It ain’t much, but it’s what our lives have been filled with lately. A whole lot of searching for work and a whole lot of rejections. This is life I suppose.
