I’m a li’l slow…
June 18th, 2009 - by Teresa

So, the happenings of last weekend are old news at this point–with Wylie posting the walk score and the crime stuff (I am happy that the closest things to where we will be walking seemed to be a fire, a traffic stop, and a “resisting arrest”…a stabbing and a controlled substance were a little further out…but I will still be glad to walk around our new digs…), but, I am here reporting on them anyway! I totally kicked the Nantahala’s arse on Saturday in a ducky… and Mighty Atom got to strut his stuff with a roof rack on. Such a cute little sherpa car. For those of you who don’t know, I have been engaged in a ridiculous love affair with my car since about May of 2005, which was 3 months before I owned one, and 6 months before I owned this one (the first one got smashed to bits by a lady not paying attention coming out of Kroger. Thank goodness it was the car and not me that was smashed to bits!!)….

Also, we did, in fact, see a DeLorean on the way home. Everything Wylie said about it is true.

In other news, this week I am doing some of the last grading of papers and talking to classes at Auburn that will happen. It’s a little bit strange to remember all the things it has taken me 4 years to learn about doing my job and to put them down on paper for someone else to do…a reminder that we’re kind of replaceable, which can be a discomforting kind of thought at times…but also a sign that we are on to bigger and better things! I also turned in the paperwork to get approval to do the first part of my dissertation data collection. This does not sound that exciting, but to have it done now will make this next year much more pleasant–for Wylie and for me!
